| Amy Christensen has been part of the family nurturing
experiment for eleven years now. However it's only been in the last four that
she has had the Nurturing Parenting Program to guide her-before that it was just
luck and good intentions. As her eleven year old son will tell you, we're on the
right track now. Amy has three children and got involved in the nurturing program
first as a parent, and then as a professional. The difference that parent education
has made in her own family is wonderful motivation for Amy as a facilitator and
trainer. After graduating with her bachelor degree in Fine Art and a minor
in English, Amy served for two years as an AmeriCorps member with the Pocatello
Head Start. This was the beginning of Amy's prevention work with families and
children. She stayed on as a literacy consultant for Head Start and then became
a facilitator for the Bannock Youth Foundation. She has been with the foundation
for the past four years facilitating Nurturing groups for families with infants
and toddlers, school age children, and families with adolescents. Amy feels that
each group presents a unique circumstance in which we learn from each other and
grow as a group. The opportunity to help other organizations establish
the Nurturing Program in their communities has long been a goal of Amy's. She
is very fortunate in that she shares the position of trainer with her two
friends and co-workers Heather Kemp and Candice Camper. The prospective co-facilitation
is an exciting one for Amy as they play well off of each others strengths.
