Leigh
is the Nurturing Project Coordinator housed in the
Eastern Carolina Injury Prevention Program at Pitt
County Memorial Hospital, which serves 29 eastern
North Carolina counties. Her primary focus with Nurturing
is to expand its utilization into surrounding counties
by acting as a resource through training, program
guidance and consultation.
She has been working with families over 10 years
in the U.S. and abroad. Her background is in health
with a focus on promoting healthy families. Leigh
received her bachelor's degree in Community Health
Education and completed her master's certificate in
English-Technical and Professional Communication from
East Carolina University. Leigh is a Certified Health
Education Specialist and former Registered Health
Educator. She earned her Nonprofit Management Program
Certificate from Duke University, completed the Blue
Cross Blue Shield Healthy Community Institute for
Nonprofit Excellence and is trained as a Mediator.
Prior to working with the Nurturing Project, Leigh
held positions as the Director of Health Education
at a local health department, acted as Assistant Director
at a senior center and performed duties as a local
Partnerships for Children/Smart Start Executive Director.
Through these experiences, she has gained significant
appreciation for the role of parents and caretakers.
Leigh's work applications have been valuable contributions
to parenting her own child and caring for the children
of others. She is overjoyed to be immersed into such
positive and healthy lifestyle.
