Margaret
was born and raised in Fresno, California. She attended
Pitzer College in Claremont, California to receive
her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Sociology
and attend California State University at Fresno to
receive her Master's in Social Work.
Margaret has been married for 28 years and has 2 adult
children and 11 year old twin daughters. She is also
a proud grandmother. Margaret is a very active member
of New Birth Christian Center and has a passion for
ministries that focus on community outreach and support.
Margaret Jackson has over 25 years of child welfare
experience as a line worker, Supervisor, and Trainer.
Margaret served briefly as the Director of the California
Disproportionality Project and is currently a Professional
Trainer & Consultant. Margaret is a Trainer/Consultant
for the Central California Child Welfare Training
Academy (for the past 8 years) at California State
University of Fresno and has also been employed as
a lead Trainer, Regional Training Coordinator, and
as a Supervisor Mentor/Field Based Trainer for newly
hired Child Welfare Supervisors. Margaret is also
an Adjunct Faculty member at California State University
of Fresno, teaching child welfare, diversity and practice
courses in the social work program. Margaret has written,
developed and trained curriculum in Child Welfare
Services, for the Foster Parent Training Project and
most recently assisted with the development and training
of the Cultural Broker Paraprofessional training curriculum.
. Margaret participates in Fresno County's Family
to Family Community Collaborative initiative and serves
as aTrainer, and Cultural Broker. As a Cultural Broker
Margaret provides services to children and their families
involved in the child welfare system and is a Trainer,
Consultant, and Facilitator for the African American
Nurturing Parenting Program. Margaret is also a trained
Family Group Conference and Team Decision Making Facilitator.
Margaret is also a certified trainer for the Attachment
and Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC) Intervention after
completing a year of training and supervison by Mary
Dozier, Ph.D. and Sandra Sepulveda Kozakowski, Ph.D.
from the University of Delaware Department of Psychology.
Margaret is also a Certified Facilitator in Racial
Sobriety at the National Training Center in Washington
DC under the direction of Founder FR. Clarence Williams,
CPPS, PhD.
Child Welfare Supervisors, Managers and line workers
who have attended Margaret's trainings describe her
as an excellent presenter that excites and reinvigorates
participants. Margaret's ability to facilitate open
and honest discussions about difficult taboo subjects
such as race, in a very sensitive and respectful way
is greatly appreciated. A recent training participant
remarked "Margaret's ability to facilitate tough
discussions without judgement was very effective."
Another trainee remarked "this was a great training
by an extraordinary trainer."
