The Nurturing Programs incorporate three pre and posttest self-report assessment measures:

**Not intended for individual use or purchase.  Must have a professional license. Please provide the name of your agency when ordering.

1. Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory (AAPI)

The AAPI is an inventory designed to assess the parenting and child rearing attitudes of adult and adolescent parent and pre-parent populations. Based on the known parenting and child rearing behaviors of abusive parents, responses to the inventory provide an index of risk for practicing behaviors known to be attributable to child abuse and neglect.

The Benefits of Assessment:

  • Measure the pre and post effectiveness of your parenting program.
  • Determine parenting strengths and areas that need improvement.
  • Increase the probability of funding with built-in pre-process-post assessment.

The Levels of Assessment:

  • Pre: Data collected prior to the formal start of your program to determine entry level capabilities.
  • Process: Data collected during the program to monitor ongoing growth and changes.
  • Post: Data collected at the completion of your program to determine the level of growth and future intervention needs of the family

2. Parenting Attitudes about Raising Teens Inventory (PARTI)

Parenting Attitudes about Raising Teens Inventory (PARTI) is a norm- reference Likert scale designed to assess the parenting beliefs and practices of raising adolescent’s ages 12 to 20 years of age.

There are two versions of the PARTI:

  • one version for the Parents and
  • one version for the Teens.

3. Nurturing Skills Competency Scale (NSCS)

The Nurturing Skills Competency Scale (NSCS) is a comprehensive criterion referenced measure designed to gather demographic data of the family, as well as knowledge and utilization of Nurturing Parenting practices. The data generated from the pre-post Assessment of the NSCS allows parents and staff an opportunity to measure changes in family life, knowledge and utilization of Nurturing Parenting practices.

The functional purpose of assessment is to gather information for decision makers. Families, professionals in the helping fields, agency Assessments and funding sources are typical decision makers that rely on information to assist them.

Six Nurturing Skills Competency Scales (NSCS) have been added to AssessingParenting.com in both the Long Version and the Short Version:

  1. Prenatal Families
  2. Parents & Adolescents
  3. Parents & School-Age Children
  4. Parents & their Children Birth to Five
  5. Teen (Young) Parents & their Children Birth to Five
  6. Families in Nurturing Skills Programs

Two versions of the NSCS are available:

  • Short version (SV) for average parents who are attending parenting classes; and
  • the long version (LV) for high risk families or families mandated by the courts to attend.
